The best in bows
Ready to tie one on? While fashion week always boasts a mesmerizing display of eye candy, each season there’s always that moment when something just jumps right out at you. This season, that moment happened at the Tory Burch show, again at Marchesa, and then while lunching with Lela Rose! Not with just one look, but with every single one. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them! Every single model, regardless of what she was wearing, donned black bows. From loosely tousled ponytails (so Blair Waldorf!) to chic chignons and belts, the bow is back and bigger (literally) than ever.
Now, this might not seem extremely exciting to you if you’re not much of a bow enthusiast; however, let me assure you – for someone who is, this is the most exciting thing this season! Yes, I am THAT passionate about big velvet bows. I may or may not have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to bows of epic proportions! Side note… I secretly wish I could live in my Paris Pinterest board.
Give me a bold cat eye, soft pink cheeks and a big, black velvet bow any day. Nothing screams CHIC, FEMININE and ROMANTIC quite like this look does.
The once structured silhouette is back in a far more relaxed way. Think loosely tied, draped and not symmetrically tied. What’s not to love about this ladylike touch? Clearly, it’s captured the hearts of some of the biggest design houses for a reason. What I loved most about the juxtaposition between Tory and Marchesa was that the styling couldn’t have been more different. Further proving the versatility of the bow — if you had any doubts.
It elevates a casual ponytail and is the new, definitive way to style a chignon. The best part is that you don’t have to be a girly-girl to wear it well. Some of my favorite pairings are a bow and a pantsuit – nothing gives a masculine look a softer, sweeter touch. Styling tip à la Gucci? You can always wear your bow barette as a broach like I did here.
Excuse me while I step out for a moment to make a quick run to the fabric store where you’ll find me stacking up on yards of black velvet. Perhaps it’s time for a DIY.
Still reeling from all that NYFW goodness? There was so much amazing content and so many gorgeous collections. If you want to know more about my shopping and selection process, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the new Trove App lately. It allows you to curate your very own feed with your favorite bloggers and influencers. It was so helpful for me in planning all of my fashion week inspired looks. Plus, it’s made shopping all of their pieces so easy!
