Growing up, and to this day I was never one of those girls who could walk into a lingerie store and find a bra that fit. And getting fitted for one was certainly not high on my to-do list. You see, I’m a part of what we like to call the itty-bitty-titty-committee. A club I wasn’t always so happy about being in. But as I’ve matured, I’ve come to appreciate my body in ways I never could when I was younger.
Growing up, we’re often distracted and concerned with what we don’t have that we overlook and forget to appreciate what we do. I mean I don’t blame us – the media and lingerie industry has a very antiquated way of presenting how women should look in lingerie. It’s unrealistic body #goals that I know I’ll personally never be able to achieve.
So where do we draw the line and do what feels best for us? That’s the beauty of self-love, isn’t it? Being mindful of who you are, and giving yourself the love and respect you deserve. It’s a process, a long winding road of discovery, figuring out what works and what doesn’t, in every vertical so that you are the happiest version of yourself.
While self-love can not be bought with a makeover or a new pair of shoes, there is a lot to say about finding a bra that gives you the confidence of feeling like the best version of yourself. Because when a bra fits badly, it shows all over your face. You can just feel it! There’s nothing quite like wearing a bra that makes you feel strong and confident, no matter what your shape or size.
The Perfect Fit
I discovered ThirdLove this year and my first thought was – how the hell have I NOT discovered them before?! So for those of you who are also discovering them through this post, get ready because this is sincerely the last bra you will never buy. They’ve completely re-thought the industry standard and created a system online (no more awkward dressing room fittings) to pin point exactly what size you are.
Skeptical at first, I felt like the process wouldn’t work. But there’s a reason they let you keep it and wear it for a month before buying. That’s because they’re that confident that you will love it as much as I do. It’s just the confidence that I needed to get in front of a camera to take these photos. If you click over to ThirdLove you can read up on the breast shape dictionary and the bra styling guide. You can also take the Fit Finder quiz to find your perfect fit. Added Bonus? once you finish the quiz, you get to try a ThirdLove bra for free for 30 days!
If you asked me a few years ago if I’d be comfortable taking boudoir photos, I would have scoffed out of insecurity. It was only until I saw my wedding boudoir photos of myself that I could find the beauty in capturing myself in a more vulnerable light. There’s something that’s deeply captivating about sharing a side of yourself with someone or (in my case) all of you, that feels very real. So thanks for listening and always being there for me. I cherish you reading this more than you know!
