Though I’ll always, always have a spot for French Girl attire in my heart (and closet), lately I’ve been gravitating towards a new region’s style. Enter, the Danish girl. It’s not hard to, either. With their unique, bold, confident fashion sense, they’re stealing the show when it comes to having a fresh eye with an even fresher take.
Opposite of their Swedish neighbors head to toe in black, Danish girls have been showing up to fashion month with the same minimal cool-girl vibe, but with added surprising elements. Open any magazine and you’ll see quite a few Danes lining street style pages with effortless and uniqueness meshed oh so perfectly. And with native designers like Copenhagen’s Ganni (a personal fave) becoming household names even stateside, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more from the country.
So, if you too are crushing on the girls from up north, here are my quick tips for dressing like a Danish girl: Put comfort first a la outfits that are transitional from literally running around the city to meeting up for drinks. Never forget about the power of separates that aren’t too matchy-matchy – like a silk skirt and a chunky sweater. Have fun with colors and prints! You’ll usually find a Dane in bright primary colors and prints in a chic way. Lastly, when all else fails, mix feminine and masculine, like a floral dress and cool sneakers.
Don’t worry French lovers – that style will always have my heart, but here’s to embracing new cultures, fashion, and art every single day.
Are you into Danish girl style too, my loves?
