I’ve dreamed of this moment for a very long time. Christmastime has always held a very special place in my heart, the magic, the memories, and the familiar traditions that carry us back to childhood and fill our homes with that same sense of wonder.

For the past three years, one of those traditions has been dressing my girls in Smock London. So when their team invited me to dream up a collection after last Christmas, my mind went straight to those fleeting hours on Christmas Eve when childhood seems made entirely of possibility. I pictured a little bedroom becoming a Renaissance theater, the canopy its curtains, the stars its scenery, and my girls tucked beneath it all, dreaming of what morning might bring. That vision became a collection inspired by the magic I remember from my own childhood Christmases and the memories I’m now making with my girls.

And now, as we stand on the brink of launch, it’s my honor to introduce you to

Smock London x Jenny Cipoletti, a holiday capsule collection with a little stardust and so much heart. 12 Silhouettes, 4 Fabrics and endless matching opportunities! Nightgowns to match your little, pajamas for tiptoeing downstairs on Christmas morning, and festive looks for gathering with everyone you love. I hope you’ll find something that feels destined for your own family traditions.

I can hardly wait to see the memories you’ll make in them!

The Moodboard: The Night Sky and Christmas Eve Wonder

The moodboard began with a little Renaissance theater. I imagined sweeping curtains, a canopy framing a bed like a stage, and a midnight sky scattered with stars and moons. There was something so lovely about bringing that sense of occasion into a child’s bedroom, a familiar space transformed by imagination.

Storybook references, traditional tartans, delicate stitching, and soft frills helped give that idea its shape. I wanted the star elements to feel at home alongside classic Christmas fabrics, with tiny stars catching the light and gold thread adding a quiet shimmer.

The theme became a way of connecting the collection. You’ll find it in the embroidery and smocking, as well as in the feeling behind the pieces, that mixture of comfort and anticipation that belongs so completely to Christmas Eve.

Matching Christmas Nightgowns: The Clara Gowns

The Clara Gowns bring that daydream into midnight blue plumetti cotton. I designed the stars and moons to be stitched in shimmering metallic gold thread, little details that bring the night sky into the fabric itself.

Hand smocking adds texture, while frilled collars and cuffs finished with hand-worked cross stitch lend a romantic touch. Against the deep blue cotton, the gold embroidery becomes a focal point, delicate enough to invite a closer look.

For mothers and little ones who love matching Christmas nightgowns, Clara offers a shared detail to make getting ready for bed feel like an occasion of its own. These are pieces I imagined being worn for bedtime stories, sleepy morning cuddles, and all the quiet moments between the celebrations.

The Holly Set: Festive Christmas Pajamas

The Holly Set brings a different mood to the collection, light, playful, and full of festive detail. Superfine cotton is dotted with holly berry tufts, with red threads echoed in the hand smocking and tiny French knots.

The pajamas feature a pintucked A-line blouse with three-quarter-length sleeves, a gathered panel at the back, and generous frills at the collar and cuffs. Hand-worked cross stitch finishes those edges, while mother-of-pearl buttons and a drawstring waist complete the design.

I love how much there is to discover in this fabric and its finishing. From a distance, it feels like a classic Christmas look. Up close, the trellis stitches, small knots, and carefully worked frills reveal the time and skill behind it.

Rowan Tartan: Rich Color and Intricate Hand Smocking

Rowan Tartan brings richness and depth to the collection. Yards of cloth are pleated into a deep hand-smocked bodice, creating fullness beneath the intricately stitched panel.

The stacked lattice smocking is worked in deep mulberry threads and interspersed with delicate French knots. That combination of pattern, color, and handwork gives the fabric its character, with details that reward a closer look.

I wanted the tartans to hold their own within the Christmas story. Rowan does that through its rich palette and the care of its construction, bringing a festive presence to the collection.

Mackensie Tartan: Festive Dresses and Coordinating Baby Rompers

In winter-weight brushed cotton, Mackensie Tartan combines forest green with classic red and yellow stripes. It has the softness and richness I associate with dressing for the Christmas season, finished with navy velvet and small, shimmering stars.

The dresses feature intricate bodice smocking, with layers of trellis and undulating outline stitches worked in navy thread. Metallic stars punctuate the stitching, carrying the night sky theme into the tartan. Shirred sleeves, a tulle petticoat, and an optional navy velvet belt bring shape and fullness to the silhouette.

The coordinating baby romper echoes those details with tiny stars in navy and metallic threads, a navy velvet collar and buttons, and a buttoned sash at the back. A three-button nappy fastening adds a practical detail for the smallest members of the celebration.

Together, they offer a way to coordinate siblings while giving each silhouette its own character.

Beautiful Existing Fabrics, Given a Second Life

Every fabric in this collaboration is ethically sourced deadstock, giving beautiful existing cloth to life rather than producing new.

Working with these four fabrics helped shape the collection’s identity. Each brought something distinct, from the airy texture of plumetti cotton to the warmth of brushed tartan. The design process was about imagining what each could become, choosing silhouettes, stitching, and finishing details that would bring out its character.

That thoughtfulness matters to me. It makes the story of these pieces begin well before they find their way into your home.

The Craftswomen Behind the Hand Smocking

Hand smocking is central to the collection, both as a design detail and as an expression of the skill behind each piece. Carefully pleated cloth becomes a surface for trellis stitches, lattice patterns, delicate French knots, and starry embroidery.

Across the fabrics, the stitching changes in color and character, from deep mulberry on Rowan Tartan to navy and metallic stars on Mackensie. These details give the collection continuity while allowing each design to feel individual.

The smocking is worked by skilled craftswomen, with every order supporting their communities. Knowing whose artistry brings these designs to life makes sharing the collection all the more meaningful.

A Little Christmas Magic, Coming Soon

What began as a picture in my imagination has become a collection I hope will find a place in your own holiday traditions.

Perhaps it will be a matching nightgown for Christmas Eve, a tartan dress brought out for a family gathering, or pajamas worn long after the last present has been opened. I love thinking about these pieces becoming part of the photographs you keep and the memories you return to.

Smock London x Jenny Cipoletti launches November 9th

I can hardly wait to share it all with you, and to see the memories you’ll make in it.

With love,

Jenny
