One aspect that I’ve always admired about European fashion, or even what New Yorker’s and certain Californian’s wear so well, is the casual cool way of dressing. While I’m certainly one for feminine and more polished looks, there’s something to be said about carrying an attitude that is effortless – and translating that attitude into what you’re wearing.
A chic trench draped over our shoulders, an unperfect front tuck to a gorgeous blouse, mixing colors and textures for an unforgettable street style moment, a classic beret over “I just woke up like this” hair – all signs of the effortless ease factor, and tips I keep in mind when attaining this look. Essentially, when casual cool is elevated in a way that still represents effort into how you look and feel, it’s a combo that is fit to be mimicked.
And to do my own mimicking of this style, I always turn to certain brands who seem to own casual cool better than anyone else. I find that going specific sites or brands depending on the overall theme of my outfit is incredibly helpful. If you’re looking to do some “casual cool” yourself, sites like Farfetch do it well. Or other brands like Reformation, who have single-handedly made otherwise feminine pieces feel model-off-duty cool (who else is ob-sessed?!). A.P.C. never ceases to amaze me with their selection of oversized sweaters I’m dying to wear over a mini skirt or cool-girl dresses. And Cult Gaia, with bags that literally stop people on the streets and make an outfit unique in an instant. They’re the ideal blend of casual, cool, and curated, that make their appeal out of this world. Other brands who do this oh so well? Carven, Sandro, IRO, The Kooples, Rouje, staud, Isabelle Marant Étoile. Swoon!
What brands do you turn to for a casual cool style? Any style tips that you love for bringing this style to life other than the ones I mentioned above? Do share, darlings!
