Mother’s Day is particularly special for us as it conjures memories of mine and Lucy’s first days together. She was just four days old when we celebrated my first Mother’s Day. I laid in bed all day breast feeding and napping as Freddie treated me to home cooked meals and a movie marathon.
My second Mother’s Day I should share was equally as memorable, but for wildly different reasons. I’m inspired to share because not all Mother’s Days are as picture perfect as my first one and as we got out of the car at my in-laws last year, Lucy projectile vomited all over me and our cute Mother’s Day outfit. It took me about 5 seconds to laugh about it. Still laughing about it as I write!
And this year, as we officially have a “terrible two” toddler on my hands, I am sure this Mother’s Day will be anything but relaxing. And the thing is, I’m OK with that. I find that on days when I’m my busiest, I miss her the most. I feel like I have just a few years left when she actually wants to hang out with me so I am soaking up those moments whenever the opportunities come. This year, I want to do whatever her little heart desires. Go to the park, play on the swings, dig in the sand and pick flowers from the garden.
