It was on my trip to Paris when I realized that there is a huge difference between traveling and vacationing. While I imagined this would be a vacation, I quickly realized that my mounting list of places to visit was more like a to-do list! Case in point; vacation is the act of lounging on a beach. Traveling is seeing, experiencing and exploring something new. I have to admit that I caught the travel bug while I was in Paris. I have been vacationing for far too long and not traveling enough. The feeling of immersing yourself in a foreign culture is extremely enriching and humbling. I want more!
The moment the trip was booked, the research began. The act of discovering new places to see quickly became an obsession. I didn’t want the standard “touristy” places, I wanted to feel like a local. I began to comb the web for hidden gems; restaurants, hotels, boutiques! To my surprise, I kept coming across the most amazing reviews and pictures on TripAdvisor. Picking a place to visit is kind of like ordering food at a restaurant, the menu is better with images, right?! Sure, there were hundreds of sites I found that listed places to visit, but on TripAdvisor there are hundred of images to go hand in hand with first hand experiences of people that have been there before. If you are headed to Paris, or anywhere for that matter, TripAdvisor is an amazing place to start your journey. I created a Pinterest Board (HERE) with some of my favorite locations in Paris and also some travel tips! If you like my photos, feel free to add them to your travel boards using #MyTravelAdvice, happy pinning guys!
