Being born and raised in California, there will always be a special place for denim in my heart. And though you may not find me in all-out effortless denim on denim, I adore finding ways to sport the material in a more feminine, elevated way. To mix California cool in a polished manner, there’s one trend I’m gravitating towards on repeat. That, my sweets, is the denim trench.
Instead of reaching for a traditional denim jacket or the same duster over and over this spring, consider the denim trench instead. Want to know how? Keep reading babes!
Downtown darling
As shown in the images in this post, this is one of my favorite ways to style the denim trench. All you need is a feminine dress and edgier details to take the look from girly to downtown darling. This is when I reach for a belted, dark-wash trench like this Stella McCartney version and patent boots to add to the edge appeal.
Dressed down trousers
When a peacoat feels too preppy for trousers, this is prime opportunity for the denim trench. It relaxes an outfit in an effortless way, especially in a lighter wash. Find a denim trench with a tie waist if the trousers are wide or boxy to keep things structured up top.
French girl denim
California girl yes, but I’m always admiring the French girl way of styling traditional choices. If the relaxed denim on denim is too dressed down for you, you also may love the Frenchie’s way of doing things. Elevate things simply with cropped white jeans and a sweet top, then throw on a lived-in denim trench to keep things cool yet classic.
Which is your denim trench style of choice?
